Any one tried windows 8.1 with the plugins for miniSHARC. I've just tried to run the plugin and it doesn't seem to work anymore. I wanted to confirm weather it was just my machine or a general 8.1 problem. Adobe doesn't report any incompatibilities but I guess that isn't the end of the story.

Cheers

Bugger, windows 8.1 seems to have killed my minisharc. I can no longer connect to the DSP via USB even using a different laptop with windows 7. I can connect in upgrade mode and can perform a reset etc but the plugin will not connect to the board.

I hope someone at devteam can help me out. I am exhibiting at the scalford audio show in the UK in a months time and need to finish my build off. I was hoping to evangelize about the virtues of this product and going active. It might even mean a few more sales for you guys! Maybe you can lend me another board?

Please help ASAP.

Stefan

Windows isn't going to kill your miniSHARC. :)

Try doing a master reset using the firmware upgrade utility with the procedure I noted in this post:

That will most likely get you back on the air.

Dave.

OK, got it back up and running. I used the procedure outlined by Dave in the post he pointed to above, with one small addition. I removed the upgraded firmware that Devteam released recently from the 'add' folder and replaced the original before I carried out this procedure. I had to do this in a windows 8 machine as it seems that the windows 8.1 update has broken the plugin interface, some of the dialogues and buttons just appear as grey blocks, also after I did a sync with the board for the first time it killed the firmware on the board it seems.

**don't use windows 8.1 until Devteam had fixed it**

Strangely the 96Khz plugin seems to work just fine....

Any comment on this DEV team? I'd like to not have to keep nicking my wifes lappie every time I have a whim to change the cross over settings.

Stefan,

Sorry if we misread here but can you clarify what's the issue? Maybe email us some screenshots?
We (and other end users) have Win8 and have no problems. Have you tried install/reinstall of the plug-in? Are you talking of the plug-in or the firmware upgrade tool?

Yeah I'll get some later this week when I have a moment. But in the meantime just to confirm that windows 8.1 is the problem not 8. I use 8 just fine as well. I tried fresh installs of the plugin FYI and had the same results on 2 different 8.1 PCs. Try it out.

As promised some screen shots,

In this image you can see that in the routing section the buttons have no text and are greyed out out if you click on them.

At this screen you can't click on any of the buttons, except sometimes the FIR button, however.....

IF you can get to this screen you can't then close it

If you click sync you get this greyed out dialogue box and the sync corrupts the board. The only way is to then do a reset using the original firmware on a computer that isn't running windows 8.1.

I tried this on a couple of different windows 8.1 machines, windows 8 works fine as you pointed out earlier.

Hope this helps,

Stefan

Stefan,

Thanks for the update. We don't have a Win8.1 environment so we'd have to see when we get a chance to upgrade. We'll get back when we get more info.

Hi @devteam,

Did you get any movement on this one? I've got Scalford show at the weekend and was kind of hoping to only take one laptop.

Stefan,

Sorry for the delay, we unfortunately can't figure out what's going on here.
We installed 8.1 on 2 machines, works perfectly fine, no issues whatsoever. It's definitely specific to your pc. Here are some suggestions: .

Most likely an adobe air, flash player issue during the upgrade rather than the plug-in issue. Please uninstall both (Flash + Adobe Air) and reinstall them from adobe air. can't read from above if you did that already.

Hmm, thanks for looking at this for me. I did try with two different PC's. I'll try the uninstalling thing and see what happens.

Thanks again, I know diverting staff to look at an issue one user is having is not good business really.

Well I tried that with my laptop this PM. No difference. I'll try with my other 8.1 machine some time. I even went to great lengths to ensure all traces of Air and Flash were removed along with your plugin. Oh well :(

Thanks for looking though
