I'm thinking about getting an OPENDRC to use as the front end to my DAC.

Digital Source - > Toslink In -> Toslink Out-> DAC -> Power Amp

My DAC has an analog volume control.

Has anyone used the OpenDRC this way and could provide their experience?

The OpenDRC will have no problem to handle this configuration. It will just be in the all digital chain. Being an all digital unit, it would indeed in 90% of cases actually be used in compliment to a DAC feeding an amp.

Hoping this info helps.
