I am willing to buy a miniSHARC for configuration my small PA system.
The FIR section have my special interest.
There for i need 2x analog in and 2x4 analog output.
This has to be balanced to connect to the amps, and make it possible to use longer cables.

I have seen the AN-FP module to convert the I2S signal to bal analog out.
I have to buy 4 modules to get 8 outputs.
I can only use 1 module of these 4 for the input.

Is this correct? do i have to make a new connection cable to sort out the right I2C pinout?
Is there a beter and cheaper way to do this?

Thank you for you answer.

@ Paul,

For your configuration (balanced in/out), you will need to build a custom DAC I2S board since we don't have such thing as balanced out x 8. The miniDAC8 + AN-FP + miniSHARC would do something similar but it would be unbalanced out I'm afraid.. :-(

I'd like to reinforce that by proposing an unbalanced to Balanced Output-Buffer approach like e.g. this one from Sjöström, where . There should be cheaper circuits available ;o)

Please let us know where you end up!

Winfried

@Winfried,

Thanks for the link on the buffer. Not exactly cheap but could indeed be a good circuit. :-)

The Sjöström Super Buffer indeed looks nice :)
As a cheaper, but still very good alternative to DIYers willing to solder there own boards I will be happy to make the Gerbers of my unbalanced to balanced output board available. It uses the balanced line driver ICs e.g. from That (THAT1646) or TI (DRV134). It is well tested and works very good.
kind regards, Daniel
