I received my OpenDRC today, and managed to get it working with the open source DRC-FIR package in a matter of minutes. First impressions are quite good. It's extremely useful to untether DRC convolution from my PC, and utilize FIR filtering with any digital source in my entertainment center.

Excellent job, MiniDSP. I highly recommend this product: excellent build, excellent software plugin, excellent sonic fidelity. Five stars!

I will post more details from my project later, as interest and time permits.

I'd like to double that!

openDRC really works great. I did some measurements that show a really good performance (will post them in a few days).

Please let us know more details of your project, I am definitely interested ;)

Great to hear your feedback from both of you!

The use of DRC open source is a first here I think... Keep us updated on how that went for you when u have a chance! :-)

I tripple it except or all fir makers …. I use rephase , that’s besides the fact that it is by far the single most powerful dsp ive ever owned..

it does exactly what I want it to do. It also does exactly what I ask it to do.

Just because fir convolution is getting going and there’s a lot of pc based convolution… something about hardware convolution seems to make for better sound quality… I don’t know why technically, but I can tell there’s a audible difference in how it processes the filters.

I have to do something boldly stupid to get it to have any pre or post ringing, I have never had any artifacts with any of my fir. I see stories of all these pc based convolvers that are riddled with all kinds of issues , starting with smearing the time domain with million tap plus filters at low sample if rates.

The OpenDrc Just just powerful enough to get it done! Not enough taps to cause temporal smearing so it’s mostly dummy proof… the likelihood of anyones fir sounding good is very high with minidsp boxes. So it works for beginners and the most advanced filter designers.

i have a worry that fir will never take off to be widespread to the mass majority because of the complexity, and these units will be hard to find in the future…

i plea that the OpenDrc always remain as a current model and never be phased out, only unless something be created that has equal fir power or better.
