Hi,
Today, I just installed in the box of OpenDRC-DI, a miniSTREAMER.
So now he accepts as input AES-EBU, SPDIF, Toslink and USB.

Neat!! Nice update and very clean setup...
With the onboard SRC, that's the perfect use of the miniStreamer

Thanks for sharing,

Indeed a very nice integration!

Where did you connect the miniSTREAMER to the DIGI-FP board? Parallel to another input? Or is one digital input left that is selectable from the plugin (AVB)?

From the cabling, it looks like it's under the board of the DIGI-FP it seems (e.g. SPDIF input). i.e. he'll be able to use the source selection (SPDIF) this way.

Hi,
The cabling is in parallel to the SPDIF input.
But it should perhaps be a selector ?

Hey, I have a ministreamer just sitting here. I plan on getting the OpenDRC-DI. I need to keep the AES/EBU input, as well as the other 2 digital inputs. Is there a way to add the ministreamer as a 4th input?

Should be possible to connect the SPDIF output of the USBstreamer (TTL signal at the TOSLINK TX) to the SPDIF input (also TTL level) of the miniSHARC. The DIGI-FP is already using the I2S input.

kind regards, Daniel

But, then I loose the tos input on the OpenDRC, right? It looks like I'm going to have multiple boxes.... sigh.

No, you won't loose the TOSLINK input on the DIGI-FP, however please note that this is not exactly plug'n'play.

The miniSHARC has I2S input and SPDIF input, both are accessible through the I2S In&our expansion port as per the datasheet or manual (pin 1 plus GND being SPDIF receiver). The DIGI-FP is already using the I2S input but not the SPDIF input, there is a I2S to SPDIF on board the DIGI_FP. Therefore the SPDIF input on the SHARC is still free! both I2S (=DIGI_FP) and SPDIF can be selected using different config in the SHARC plugin.
The SPDIF input of the SHARC is 3.3V TTL level other than standard consumer level 0.5V. Thus you can not directly connect e.g. your CD player but need a level converter. Luckily the SPDIF (=TOSLINK, the signal is the same but different "cable" optical vs electrical) output of the USBstreamer is also TTL level. To access the SPDIF signal on the USBstreamer you need to tap the signal from the TOSLINK transeiver (e.g. remove the transeiver) and route this TTL signal to the miniSHARC SPDIF input (pin 1, see above).

hope this info helps :-)

kind regards, Daniel

Oh man, I don't want to hack up the USBstreamer just to do this. I'll just get an outboard switchbox instead. Thanks for your help. I guess I'll just have to accept a collection of boxes connected by wires to do what I want to do.
