I am fulfilled this function perfectly.

My system:
CD / DVD / SACD HHB UDP-89
MiniDSP OpenDRC-DI
Active crossover FIR ELECTROVOICE DX46
DYNAUDIO ACOUSTICS amplifier DCA 450 (MC2 AUDIO MC 450) and MC2 AUDIO MC 1250

Nice setup Stéphane and I guess we didn't expect the OpenDRC to be used as such but it does make sense though.. Some Digital volume control interface being close to our price and without the DSP.. :-)

These horns are huge.. custom work?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi,
I have assembled a commercial kit using an LT1084 regulator for my OpenDRC-powered DI, it is set to a voltage of 5 VDC.
A very good result was listening after the change.

Hi from NZ,
I am new to the forum and would like to know if the Open DRC-DI can control the vol. and be used as a digital preamp for a pair of Genelec 8260a monitors, these are active, tri-amped with in built room correction in the digital domain. They have input for digital (AES). I would mainly be using cd (spdif)as a source. If this possible is the vol control transparent without bit loss when used this way. Thankyou.

Yes, there is a SPDIF digital input, an input selector and an AES-EBU digital output.

@cultus: volume control without any loss isn't possible, be it analog (noise!) or digital. However the volume control build into modern DACs or DSPs is working very well and that's also valid for the openDRC. I've recently done some measurements (purely in the digital domain using AES in and out of a RME Digi96 soundcard) and signal degradation for volume attenuation up to -60dB is measurable, but not acoustically relevant. If you need more attenuation in your system for normal listening levels you should rethink your systems gain structure

Loop Through measurement (THD DIGI96 digital loop through 0.00011%):

40dB attenuation:

60dB attenuation:
