Hi all.

Looking for some help with what the nano can and can't do before I make a buying decision.

I use an nvidia shield as both a media streamer (Amazon and Netflix) and PLEX server where I store my MKV files.
My MKV files are direct 1080p blu-ray rips with either Dolby TRUEHD or DTS MA as the audio code.

I would like to use DIRAC as part of my 2.2 set up so the NANOAVR with DIRAC built in seems like the perfect solution.

My question is, will the nano allow me to watch my movies in 1080P whilst allowing my AVR (Marantz NR1608) to decode to audio file accurately.
I understand the nano will not recognise DTS or anything like that so if I set the shield up so it just passes the audio codec as LPCM to the AVR, will the nano just pass the codec through too?

Can somebody help me out with this.

Thanks.

the nano will just pass the LPCM through but, in the User manual page 11 (HD/HDA versions):
"Some HDMI devices such as TVs only support basic HDMI Audio (up to 48 kHz), and will not respond to
audio from the nanoAVR. Use an A/V receiver or preamp with 96 kHz support to decode HDMI audio"
It's seems it is also possible to change the number of channels being sent to the HDMI output ("Channel mode" on page 29):
"The number of audio channels that the nanoAVR signals on its HDMI output to the downstream HDMI device is
selected by the Channel Mode dropdown selector"
You would be advised to verify that the nVidia Shield is able to consistently output 7-5.1 LPCM, it seems to have been historic issues with this (or perhaps Plex+Shield combination), duckduckgo.com/?q=nvidia+shield+audio+lpcm&t=ffab&ia=web
