Hi nanoAVR-DL experts,
can I change the gain for one channel (the front right speaker channel) into the AVR/receiver relative volume levels menu with Dirac EQ on without consequences ? Or to say oterwise, if I need to compensate my tinitus in my left ear by lowering the relative volume of the front right channel by 1 or 2 dB (the goal is to keep music in a movie sound track in front of the MLP ) is it better to lower theDirac house curve for the front right channel by 1 or 2 dB or can I change (after Dirac equing) the gain of the FR channel in the receiver without messing with Dirac equalization? I ask that question because I think that to set the gain with a -1 or -2 dB level in the receiver for the FR relative volume BEFORE optimizing with Dirac means nothing because Dirac will readjust the relative level for this channel, isn't it?

Yes, changing the level in the AVR will just change the level. If you wanted to do before Dirac calibration then you would have to do it with the target curve (I believe that would work although I have not tried it).

I'd say just try it and experiment to see if it helps :)

Maybe I was not clear. I read elsewhere that when Dirac EQ is on (after equing), it is "forbidden" to change the level of only one channel the penalty being that it messes with the filters calculated by Dirac. They said that if I lower one channel I must lower all others channels by the same dB.
My goal is to lower only the front right and keep Dirac results. Is the only good procedure is to lower the house curve for this channel into Dirac or can I change only the gain for this channel in the receiver and keep Dirac house curve untouched.

?

I can't speak to mysterious and probably wrong advice you got elsewhere but I did answer your question...

Thank for the reply. We must learn to trust our ears. I tried and my ears told me that it wasn't so wrong to lower one channel after Dirac equalisation; nothing audible at least.

I would rather trust rew and umik. Then verify with my ears, of course.
