I just got my nanoAVR HD yesterday and was very excited to start working with it. When it works, it works great. When it doesn't it doesn't.

What I mean is that I am having handshaking problems with the HDMI. My setup is Computer -> nanoAVR HD -> Integra DHC 40.1 pre/pro -> Panasonic Plasma TV. All of my other sources are connected directly to the Integra pre/pro. If I switch inputs on the Integra pre/pro to, for example, my TiVo box and then back to the nanoAVR HD I cannot get a signal. The only solution is to unplug the power to the nanoAVR and plug back in. Then it will acquire a signal.

Has anyone else had this sort of issue?

Hello,

Mmmh, most likely something to investigate on your HDMI setup. Did you already create a tech support ticket? Maybe best for us to track the files/issues. If you just created a tech support ticket, someone will get back to you shortly.

We can easily log your setup to learn what's the issue in that setup. Btw, did you try to toggle the HDMI in1/in2 to see if that reset the HDMI handshake. That could be a trick. On some PC, the HDMI will go idle and may cause that issue.

I did create a support ticket but have not received a reply yet.I did try to toggle between the two HDMI inputs and the box didn't respond. Seemed as if it were totally dead. I must say, however, I did have better luck yesterday. There were a few times that everything seemed to work OK. I'm going to monitor it more closely to see if I can pinpoint exactly when the problem is occurring.

Sounds good! Best that you communicate your feedback with the ticket then once you get some pattern.

I dont want to open a new thread but I have simmilar issue with HDMI handshake. HTPC is connected to nanoavr HDA, then to a video processor (eecolor box) and then to a JVC projector. Whenever I switch off the processor or the projector I have issues with sound disappearing. I am playing with Gefen Detective Plus at the moment to fix the EDID but it works partially. Whatever EDID I try I have either sound or video, not both.

@ dziemian

We're assuming that you're running the latest firmware + software from our website? There should be logging enabled now.
If not, please remember to upgrade both.

If the above doesn't do the trick, please start a tech support ticket with us (minidsp.desk.com). It's the official way to get support. Thanks!

I had lots of connection/handshake problems with my nanoAVR. Have the latest firmware etc but nothing helped.
I use both PC and my NAS as source and when starting up the PC the nanoAVR had problems detecting it but was no problem once it was running. Usually I had to remove the power to nanoAVR and plug it in again and then it would sync the pic/sound.
Turned out it was the HDMI-cables! Switched to new thin and light ones and now it syncs everytime. I have not had any problems since.
Before I had pretty heavy and thick HDMI-cables and I think the problem is that they put a lot of strain on the HDMI-connector in both the nanoAVR but most on my receiver. My theory is that the weight caused some wires to partly break inside the connector on the cable.
Regardless it now works perfect :)
The HDMI-cables I bought were generic brand slim ones but certified for the latest stuff (ethernet, ARC, 4k, 3D).
