Hi all -- I just got a UMIK-1 and set it up and started testing it this evening. This may be a stupid Q, I Googled around and looked through this forum, but at a loss.
The file I download from the support site (serial 700-1022) gives me a text file with two columns, frequency and gain (I assume).

I want to use this in Speaker Workshop, which is expecting an .frd file, which is freq/gain/phase.

How does this work? I looked around before I got it, and this site reviews the mic, and shows an example of a calibration file with three columns www.hometheatershack.com/forums/spl-mete...ik-1-microphone.html

I tried Holm Impulse and it seemed happy enough with the Umik .txt calib file.

But how do I get it into SW? Open the txt in excel and add phase as 0 values? But then I can't calibrate for phase...

@ d0dja,

Ok, let's try to answer.
1) What do you mean "Download is off"? It's working fine for us when we try getting that file.
2) Phase was only done for the first batch I'm afraid. The current calibration file doesn't have it I'm afraid but that doesn't mean that you can't calibrate for phase, the offset is quite minor and consistent. i.e. you'd typically be measuring phase response to help for a crossover matching (E.g. LF + HF).

As for importing it to Speaker Workshop, we're not sure of how this software works but here are some suggestion:
- Have you tried to change the .txt to a .frd? You might need to remove the first 2 rows maybe. Here is a format (www.pvconsultants.com/audio/frdgroup.htm)
- Have you contacted the Speaker workshop support to ask them?

Hi, thanks for reply. By "off" it seemed that the file was different from what I saw in some other examples.

Thanks for that link to FRD Group, looks like some interesting stuff.

I opened the TXT file in Excel and added a column of zeros for phase -- Speaker Workshop seems to have imported it happily enough, need to test exactly what it's done with it, but that seems to have worked.

Speaker Workshop is a really powerful piece of software, open source, but it's no longer being developed.

@ d0dja,

Great to hear that it's now working. :-)

Keep us updated on Speaker Workshop and thanks for sharing. We're not too knowledgeable on it since we never used it but if you get a chance to do a couple of screenshots for some step by step, it will certainly be valuable to the whole community!

Hi. How can I calibrate for phase? I'm trying to use UMIK-1 for crossover design so proper phase is very important.
