Equipment: MiniDSP SHD, MiniDSP 2x4HD, Hypex Monoblock Amps, Revel Performabe F226BE and dual SVS SB-3000 subs.

I have just got this set up and have some questions.

The hypex amps are connected via XLR and seperate the channels for the tweeter and woofer. I route the signal for the tweeters to the left and right as suggested for 2-way active speakers. I actually sum both left and right for the woofers because otherwise there is very little output low end output. But what is odd is that this affects the level of the sub output even though they are running via the 2x4HD. Why might this be the case?

When I first set up I wasn't happy with the sound and found that summing both channels for the tweeters produced clearer highs. Is this equivalent of boosting high frequencies via PEQ?

I have a UMIK-1 and would like to play around with DIRAC and REW in the future but want to ensure I've got the routing and levels reasonably set before moving on. If anyone can help either vias the forum or offline that would be really appreciated. Thanks

When you say "I actually sum both left and right for the woofers because otherwise there is very little output low end output." ... how are you doing this 'summing'?

If you simply connected the L & R 'signal' wires together - this is not the correct way to do summing; you need to put a resistor in series with each 'signal output' and take the summed signal from where the two resistors are joined.

The res value should be (at least) 10x the Zout of what your summing.  If this is a miniDSP 2x 4HD ... I believe its Zout is 600 ohms.

I'm curious to know why you are summing the woofer signal?  Sure, people sum the sub output ... but mono for woofers doesn't seem like it's a good thing to do, in a stereo system!
