I plan on buying miniDSP+minidigi to use on my 3 ways open baffle speakers.
The speaker is bi-amps (4 channels); one amp drive woofer and another amp drive tweeter and midrange through passive crossover. I also have plan in the future to use tri-amp (6 channels) to drive each speaker directly.

I am learning Room EQ Wizard and plan to use REW to interated with miniDSP.

I wonder if I can buy 4 ways advance plug-in and use it for bi-amp at the moment (with 1 miniDSP) and then later, when I ready, continue to use it for tri-amp (with 2 miniDSP).
Or I have to buy 2 ways advance plug-in now and later buy 4 ways advance again when I move to tri-amp.

Hello,

In answer to your question, you unfortunately can't use a 4way crossover as a 2way crossover. Have a look at the audio flow diagram, they are not the same.
A 4 way crossover is a 1 x input, 4 x outputs
A 2 way crossover is a 2 x inputs, 4 x outputs

Hoping this answers your questions.

Thanks. That answer my question.

What if I buy 1 minidigi + 2 miniDSP and 4 way crossover and only use 2 way and mute the other two at the moment. Is that possible?

Sure, that's indeed another way to look at it. Simply use the only 2 outputs.
