Hello,

I am considering moving my speakers to active (Linn would make 4 channels), but I have several questions:

- I expect to have two analogic inputs (backup: I have a DAC on raspi and maybe keep the CD input in analog or optical?)
- I expect to manage amplification volume through a knob

What configuration should I take ?

Thanks in advance,

Pierre,

Is that a 2way setup? Maybe look at the 2x4HD? (analog + digital input)
www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-2x4-hd
www.minidsp.com/applications/digital-cro...on/283-2x4-hd-twoway
However no knob though. Just IR remote control..

If the knob control is really required, look at the 4x10 maybe? analog + digital + knob + multiway DSP processing.

thanks !

Hello,

order on the way from my local provider, is that through them that I will have access to the windows drivers ?

other question, I have speakers that can be used in active or passive mode by changing plates connections. Do I need to use a Cap (and if so which size) to run the system or just the calibration ?

@ epierre

Yes, they will indeed email you the access to the plugin via a coupon code. Please contact your dealer directly.

ok found in the package !

So I registered for a 2x4HD1 plugin which is the one I should use as I understand.

Now several questions:
- I followed the installation guide, but it seems that when an actions is played, I do not stay connected from the plugin soft to the device (dsp connection closed, retry connect failed...) unless I reboot my win10 box (I don't not stay in online mode...) => solved there is a usb bus counter message and a timetout
- what are the config 1 to 4 ? possible configurations ?
- manual does not match this plugin, on output I see PEQ, Xover, Comp and FIR no order), althtough image shows a chain Xover->FIR->PEQ->Gain/Delay is that order specific for this plugin and can it be changed ?
- I have downloaded the calibration for my UMIK-1, but where should they be used ? (which software ?)
- my speakers (Linn Katan) have active and passive filtering, should I use the capacitor anyway in active ? What is the recommended value for it ?
- on www.minidsp.com/applications/digital-cro...on/283-2x4-hd-twoway link to "Measuring a loudspeaker with the UMIK-1" is broken (I guess this one: www.minidsp.com/applications/acoustic-me...speaker-measurements
- on the section "Use the PEQ blocks on each output channel to shape the response of each driver so that it is flat over its operating range. ", it is not clear what has to be done in REW and in the plugin. What would be good is to expose what to do in one and then in the other for "Use "Peak" type filters to flatten peaks (with negative gain so they create a notch) and "High-Shelf" and "Low-Shelf" type filters to straighten out the overall response." is quite hard to understand if something has to be done in each. Also the graph and the parameters are not well clear.
- in the plugin all Xover, Comp and FIR are Bypassed (so not used right?) => big question; can I run the system as is, and apply those optimizations later?

From the UMIK-1 page:
Which calibration file should I use and where to point the UMIK-1?
We provide two calibration files to be used depending on your application.

- For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the speakers
- For multichannel system (E.g. 5.1/7.1) or a surround application where multiple speakers are spreadout around the room, use the 90deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the ceiling.

Missing link? You can't have downloaded the calibration file except from there...

I was refering to my point here since I am trying to follow a tutorial:
- on www.minidsp.com/applications/digital-cro...on/283-2x4-hd-twoway link to "Measuring a loudspeaker with the UMIK-1" is broken (I guess this one: www.minidsp.com/applications/acoustic-me...speaker-measurements

REW is for measurement, the plugin is used to set the processing. Load calibration file into REW (answered before).

Do a measurment, then adjust the peq blocks. It will quickly make sense.

Strongly suggest working throuh section 2 of user manual.

No idea about linn katan, sorry.
