Hello,
I'm in the planning stages for a home theater set up that will be using only active speakers. I am hoping to use a plate amp on each speaker that have a digital input. My ideal setup would be digital out from the tv into a DDRC-88D and have 5.2 surround come out. Can that happen with the DDRC-88D?

Thanks!

This can work but it requires more than just a DDRC-88D. Assuming you can output 8 channel PCM over HDMI you can use something like a Meridian HD621 to split the HDMI signal in to 4 stereo SPDIF or AES signals and route that to the DDRC-88D.

Great suggestion from Michael!

Also has to make sure that you use PCM over HDMI (i.e. decoding at the source). No?
