I'm trying to control a 2x4 HD with a Logitech Harmony Hub. I think I have run into a bug with IR Learning. I'm curious if the devs have an answer or anyone knows a different procedure to correct the issue below.

Control of the Harmony Hub is done through a mobile app. Not a big deal, I just create a new device (e.g. Oppo blue-ray device, Sony HTC, etc as suggested in other threads). In this example I've chosen to create an Oppo blue-ray device, so I'll get a corresponding virtual remote in the Harmony app. When I press a button on the virtual remote, the hub sends the corresponding IR signal.

In the 2x4 HD control software, I go to IR Remote -> IR Learning, which pops up an IR learning window. I then click "Learn" next to a function in the IR Learning window and press whatever button I want to assign to that function.

I'm specifically trying to program Harmony to select specific inputs, namely Analog and USB in my use case. I'm not interested in input cycling (Analog->TOSLINK->USB->Analog etc.), which is all the $5 MiniDSP remote has. The IR Learning window appears to allow it to learn new IR codes to specifically select "Analog" "TOSLINK" and "USB". These appear in the IR Learning window in that order. Curiously, there is no option for Input cycling.

Here's where I run into the "bug" while learning the new codes:
- Whatever I assign to "Analog" doesn't act as an Analog select, instead it cycles through all the inputs.
- Whatever I assign to "TOSLINK" doesn't act as a TOSLINK select, it acts like an "Analog" select (selects Analog and does not cycle).
- Whatever I assign to "USB" doesn't act as a USB select, it acts like a "TOSLINK" select (selects TOSLINK and does not cycle).

It seems the IR Learning window is missing an entry for Input cycling, and that has caused the Analog/TOSLINK/USB inputs to have been shifted to different functions. Analog acts like an input cycle, TOSLINK acts like an Analog select, and USB acts link a TOSLINK select. The end result is that there is no way I can see to specifically select the USB input, though it appears it should be possible.

Any ideas?

Hi, does your 2x4HD have the latest firmware installed?

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought I had, since Firmware 1.10 was release before I got my 2x4HD. I installed the latest software two months ago when I got my 2x4 HD. Turns out the latest download at the time included Rev 1.15 but only Firmware 1.09.

I've now downloaded the latest - "Rev 1.15 / FW 1.10a / July 2020" - and updated the USB drivers and Firmware (didn't update the Plugin as it appears to be the same rev). I'm still Rev 1.15 but now Firmware 1.11. (firmware 1.11 is what the 2x4 HD Plugin says, not 1.10a)

This did not fix the issue, however. I'm still getting the same behavior with the IR Training. Whatever is set to "Analog" acts as an input cycle, and so on.

This has been resolved with the 1.12 beta firmware the dev team provided me, and they also seemed to indicate that this issue might not exist on Firmware 1.10 (I went from 1.09 to 1.10a/1.11). Not speaking for the dev team, just providing what I know in case it helps others.

Great, thanks! Such bugs in applications or programs that help in learning are very bad because the quality of the learning process itself and the learned material is lost. I now use an online plagiarism checker  fixgerald.com that checks my texts for plagiarism. It is a very high-quality tool that works without any bugs.
