Hi!

A while ago Devteam wrote somewhere in this forum that miniDSP 2x4HD works fine with some android phones as source via usb but they don't want to make the claim that " miniDSP 2x4HD supports android USB OTG input" because well, it might depend on the proprietary android OS tweaking of different mobiles. This is very understandable.

But then A headphone amplifier comes out based on the same platform (XMOS Xcore200 / ADSP21489 400MHz Sharc DSP) which claims to support USB Android support.

So, what is happening here?

Is the HA-DSP USB platform tweaked further for better/ reliable USB Android support? Hardware/ software?
Or is the miniDSP team finally convinced that they can make the claim the miniDSP2x4/nanoSHARC/HA-DSP supports Andorid but somehow forgot to update the miniDSP 2X4HD datasheet specifications on that?

I don't know why, but it happens in both two units of 2x4HD that i have

2x4HD is a multichannel interface with clocking selection. HA=DSP is a stereo unit. While it might look exactly the same from the outside, it's not..

Under Android it's indeed a mess as some cell phone manufacturers decide to modify the audio stack that Google supports fine under their phone.. That's at the detriment of all other usb audio interfaces unfortunately..

We've heard that under Samsung, you need to sometimes reset the android OS to force output. Apps like this one ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co...diorecorderpro&hl=en) and starting it before connecting the OTG cable will force the audio to that OTG source.

Hi. Interesting thread. I have a Nexus 7 2013 with custom kernal (timurs) and it works great with the ministreamer via cheap 1-3 hub.

I am thinking of getting a couple of these 2x4HDs both running via type A usb to 2x micro splitter. (this shouldn't be a problem??)
Because the ministreamer works with the nexus would you say the 2x4HD will do as well? Also in 2x4HD user manual it mentions some output options you can set via the UAC control panel but dont know if this control panel is available on android, only windows/mac, so would this work? The ministreamer needs no UAC control panel to work, no settings to set, its just plug n play and streams at 96khz. The 2x4HD can stream at 192khz. How can I tell if everything is going to work the way me and or you would expect??

The 2x4HD been working fine as a UAC2 (standard audio class 2) device for most phones with OTG. Whether that phone support OTG and latest android codes will depend.. 2013 is on the old side. Might run an old android that will be the issue here..
