Hi there

I am succesfully using my SHD for equalizing my K&H O198 in my living room. In the not so far future, I will be in the fortunate situation to have a dedicated listening room where no obligations regarding aesthetic aspects have to be taken into account. Therefore, I would like to combine the equalisation power of the SHD wit classic room acoustic treatment (e.g. bass traps in all corners, broadband absorbers for first reflexions, diffusers behind the listening position). Does anybody have done this already? What are your recommendations to start with (e.g. use SHD for bass correction only)?

Thanks for your support and best regards,
David

I don't think there can be any substitute for you trying things out and seeing what YOU prefer.

I benefit from using bass traps in my room. I tried early reflection point absorbers as well but didn't like the results in my room and removed them. The issue was mostly that it overdamped my fairly small room and it ended up sounding a bit dead and dull. This was before I had Dirac and the latter downside I could now mitigate to some extent with a high-frequency boost. Visually I prefer my room without such absorbers as well though so I haven't bothered to pursue this.

Note that some users prefer to only use Dirac Live in the bass region even with no room treatment.

Hi ultrasonic

Thanks for your input - Kind of what I was expecting. In my previous room, I made good experience with damping early reflections. So, may start with using Dirac for the bass equalization and work from there...
