It's time to get the books out of the closet, start reading a couple of AES papers and getting reading for some serious fun with DSP Beam Steered Array loudspeakers!

While some of us are already experienced building or installing them, a little dream of our team was to be able to lower the cost involved in building such arrays. For those of you who don't know what they are, have a look on google. In few words, we're talking of many drivers in a row, and with a couple of DSP + delay techniques, having the ability to "steer" the audio up to a certain angle. Such arrays have been manufactured for a long time in the professional audio industry, time to get them to the DIY world thanks to our low cost miniDSP!

Using a miniDSP kit and our soon to be released digital amplifier, I think that we have a great opportunity to put together a low cost kit. So before we get all excited working on the plug-in that will be required, let's try to assemble ideas on what's needed to make it successful.

Someone from the miniDSP community is already working on few ideas, but I think that we need to share to be able to move forward. So go ahead, share your insight, knowledge, previous experiences and let's build that array together.

I`m interested in line array drivers with an mounted waveguid like Beyma WL3. But they are very expensive maybe the most expensive part in a element of the array. Perhaps you know a way to get a low cost driver with waveguid out of china?

Hello,

Good to hear your Line array project! We however don't have any plans to start sourcing these kind of drivers or any drivers as a matter of fact. Good drivers are quite hard to find (quality, cost) and are not something we would start selling until we would have tested them completely.

I'm therefore afraid that you might be on your own for this one. Maybe have a look at Alibaba online. It's always a great way to get in touch directly with Chinese manufacturers.

Good luck!

Devteam, pls, describe how you see configuartion of such system yourself, if using your products? Starting from source and ended with speakers?
