I've posted an update to my 4-way open baffle project on hifizine:

www.hifizine.com/2011/03/refining-a-4-wa...speaker-minidsp-2x4/

This is the second article, here is the first one (more introductory/tutorial):

www.hifizine.com/2010/12/prototyping-4-w...ith-the-minidsp-2x4/

I'll post a pic here after I make a nice baffle :)

Any questions are welcome.

Excellent information John!
I'm a novice speaker builder in the middle of building a 4 way active system and your articles are helping me with techniques for measuring, tweaking and what to expect out of the measurements.

Here's the third installment in the series, not so much emphasis on the miniDSP this time as I felt I'd covered most of it in earlier articles. And there was a lot of measurements in this one... it's quite long actually. The project is using the 2x8 now instead of the two 2x4s.

Yet another great post John!

So much information to digest in this post, I'm sure that it will help speaker designers out there trying to leverage the power of DSP for their speaker projects!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge,

Thank you for inspiration and info, John!

I followed John Reekie and John Kreskowsky (NaO dipoles) with my 4-way dipole project. I use miniDSP 5x10HD and B&O ICEpower amps. Measurements with UMIk-1 and REW.

It has been an interesting and educating journey for some months and now the speakers are almost done (paintjob missing)

Yes, really nice work! However I would call it no baffle, not open baffle ;)

Thank you for compliments, guys! My painter had a 2 week vacation to Rhodos.. I'll try to finalize the bodywork and wiring during the summer. After that I must try to find the best position for the speakers and do some room-eq.
