Hello
Is there any problem with running a Dirac ddrc-22d into a mini DSP 4x10HD. I have a very complicated 6 way system with multiple subs actively crossed over with a mini DSP 4x10HD. I am very happy with the sound of the system. I would like to know if there would be any advantage to using a Dirac ddrc-22 placed before my DSP 4x10HD. I am trying to get as much coherence of sound and imaging as I possibly can. This would seem like the strengths of the Dirac-22d would be utilized before the DSP 4x10HD actively crossed the speakers over and equalized the individual drivers with DSP. I would use the Dirac to improve the timing and imaging of the left and right speakers along with equalizing the multiple subs. Will this be too complicated for the Dirac to sort out or is this an award winning idea? Will my system improve in coherence and imaging?

Thanking you in advance

John Chait

In theory, it should help significantly. It's hard to say HOW exactly, because it is left to the imagination what it is doing. However, from the breadcrumbs provided, it should substantially improve the impulse response of the speakers and that of the low frequencies in the room. It should also help the drivers blend more harmoniously. YMMV.

@ John Chait,

As already answered by John Ashman, there wouldn't be any issue for this configuration. The benefits of active speakers (i.e. crossover flexibility, ability to time align, independent EQ) will very nicely marry with the Dirac Live processing (Room correction for Impulse). miniDSP 4x10 solving the problem at the speaker, DDRC-22 solving the problem at the listening position.

As usual, we strongly recommend all our endusers to try Dirac Live demo version (available from Dirac Live but only running from a PC/MAC). Once you do, you'll see the real benefit.

Feel free to ask if any questions.
