TOPIC: New Dirac series coming up!

New Dirac series coming up! 5 years 5 months ago #13638

Hello Gentlemen,

I ordered the DDRC-22D on March 28th (the first day the order page was up) and haven't received a shipping notice yet. The order page says 3-5 days and the press release posted March 31st on PRWeb.com states, "The DDRC-22A (analog input/output) and DDRC-22D (digital input/output) room correction audio processors are available immediately."
Are these units actually shipping and if so what is the actual lead time between order confirmation and shipping? I'm going on vacation soon and need to know if I should make arrangements with a neighbor to get the delivery.

I just ordered the same model yesterday. Sure hope they actually have the things and are shipping.

@ Denis, Thomas,

Your order will ship today FYI along with quite a few others
While we do try to ship all orders within 3~5 working days , we've unfortunately been running into a bit of delay (outside of our control). We'll be hopefully catching up during this week to make sure we ship all orders. On product release, always a bit typical to have a bit of delay.. it adds to the excitement. :-)

Thanks again for your patience.

@ MX48,

Thanks for your interest! Unfortunately, for the past 5years we run this company, we never talk of products unless we're 100% sure they are ready to come out (i.e. we have built them and ready to ship). That's just our policy.. We know that a lot of you would love to hear of what R&D is going behind the scenes, but we just feel that it's not fair to set expectation and potentially not being able to meet them.. :-(

The good news is that we do listen to all good suggestions and we did call it a "Dirac Series"... :-)

DevTeam,

I received my DDRC-22D today but I am not happy  ! The box contained everything except the Dirac license. Also, I never received an email with the serial number of this unit as the manual said I would. The number on the bottom of the unit (220D-1002) gives me an invalid serial number error when I type it into the serial number box on the activation page so apparently that isn't the serial number. As of now I have no way to activate the Dirac software so the unit is worthless to me. Your contact form says it take 2-3 days for a reply so I am resorting to posting on this forum hoping to get a quicker reply with the information I need. Please reply ASAP so I can make my DDRC-22D functional.

Denis,

Possibly the issue is that you're not looking at our latest version of the user manual. Sorry we forgot to mention that we uploaded a latest version about 3 days ago.
It will provide some insight on how the activation works. The SN# is not the information you need to type to activate the software. There is a step by step in the installation where you basically will see 2 things in your user downloads section:
- Dirac software
- Plug-in used for polling the serial number.

Hoping this info helps

My unit is on the way but I already downloaded the new manual and software prior to reading this post. I must say i am very impressed with MiniDsp and they way they always respond to my e-mails, and this forum, with prompt, precise answers. The day after my e-mail notice that my box was shipped, the 2 items appeared in my downloads. I've installed them, made sure my PC has all the pre-reqs and read the manual several times. Really looking forward to getting it all set up!

DevTeam,

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I would have never thought to look for an updated version of the manual with a different activation procedure. I would suggest you contact others that have orders in to inform them of the new manual and alleviate them of the frustration I felt when I didn't find the Dirac license in the box or have the serial number to activate the software. Once I knew of the new procedure the activation process went smoothly. Again, thank you very much for your timely response. Now I am happy :).

Hi DevTeam,

The DIrac manual says that the Windows PC must have Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Does the Dirac software really not run under Windows XP/SP3?
That would be a pitty, as my laptop for acoustic measurements has XP only?

Best regards

Thomas

PS: I have received my parcel! Thanks!

Hi DevTeam,

Looks like that Dirac and the plugin are running unter XP.
However i cannot validate the License.
After having started Dirac Live Calibration Tool the windows pops up.
I assume that the username and password which are requested are those for the account of miniDSP.
Unfortunately the answer from the server is always: "user 'samoht' not found, please re-enter username and try again"
What can be the reason?

Best regards

Even the Dirac site leaves out XP on the supported OS FAQ page.

Which operating system and computer performances are required?

System requirements

• Windows Vista, 7, 8

• Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - 10.8 Mountain Lion

Computer performance
• Intel Pentium III or later, AMD Athlon XP or later (SSE required)

• 2 GB RAM or more

Hi Thomas, the activation and validation is connecting the Dirac's servers, not miniDSP. Just checking also that you activated your Dirac license first before trying to validate? (see page 14 of user manual)
I am not miniDSP support.

Hi John,

Thanks for your help. Validation was successful.

@DevTeam:
Now I have the next problem.
I didn't order the UMIK-1 mic, because i have a set of calibrated mic and mic-amp already.
Unfortunately it looks like that no other mic than the UMIK-1 can be selected. Is this true, or is there a possibility to select an USB soundcard?

Best regards

@ Denis,

Glad to hear that you figured it out and we're sorry that we didn't place a warning about this addendum. We did add this information a bit last minute and last week was a busy time. We'll send a reminder email now!
