Thinking about adding Dirac to my system and am wondering which of these 2 units would serve me best. It appears that the SHD Studio is also a streaming device, a feature I don't need.. Also noticed that the SHD has USB audio input (I think)whereas the DDRC-22D doesn't. Both appear to top out at 96khz output, but what else is different? Do they have similar specs? I am just wanting a digital in, digital out solution and it would appear either of these would work for me..

Everything you mentioned regarding USB audio (SHD Studio has it, DDRC does not) and 96 kHz sample rate is true.

I would also add that the SHD Studio has 4 channels of output while the DDRC only has 2 channels. At a hardware level the SHD Studio is based on a new generation, faster SHARC chip than the DDRC (450 MHz 21489 vs 333 MHz 21369). SHD Studio has a display but the DDRC does not.

IMO the display on the SHD Studio alone is worth the $200 premium but YMMV.
