TOPIC: Dirac Live Upgrade to MiniDSP 2x4

Dirac Live Upgrade to MiniDSP 2x4 5 months 4 weeks ago #47373

Hi there,

I have tried following every instruction on this site, using the latest Mac OS - Catalina
DDRC-24 Latest version for Dirac 2 is installed.
Dirac Live 2.1.4 is installed.
Ports are open
Permissions are granted
Software is installed
Firmware is upgraded
System settings are Output - MiniDSP and Input is - UMIK
DDR-24 is the only thing running. No other connections to Bluetooth etc. Only WIFI
Dirac Live triggers from the application.

But it will not detect the MiniDSP hardware.

I'm stuck. If someone could help I'd love to see the advantages so many folks have raved about. '

For others thinking about this upgrade - I'd like to detail my experience. Its been 2 weeks working with support just to get the dirac to open from the application. The Dirac and MiniDSP implementation is the worst I have ever experienced, since working with MS exchange server 15 years ago.

On the basis of my experience so far I would strongly recommend NOT performing this 'Upgrade' until both companies work together to create a solution that doesn't :( demand hours of time and weeks of waiting for a solution from support. At this point I'm ready to go back to REW and ask for a refund.

Have you tried to get it to work with Dirac v1 instead? I've yet to see anyone blown away by any improvements of v2, and actually some functionality has been removed so I can see why some would actually prefer v1. I'm asking as there is far more history of successful upgrade and use with v1.

(By the way you presumably have a 2x4 HD. When I read the thread title I thought this was going to be someone asking if a Dirac update was possible for a 2x4, to which the answer would be no!)

I have similar issues. I tried 2.0 which did not work and then I tried 1.0 which also did not work. It all falls apart when trying to send the calibration sound to the box via USB. I’m using a MacBook Pro with Mojave. Note that using REW with the original 2x4 HD plugin works fine but upgrading it to DDRC-24 with Dirac 1.0 or 2.0 is a huge fail! I wonder if all their programmers have succumbed to the coronavirus...

How long is the USB lead that you are using? I've seen some reports of issues with longer cables: 5m and longer I think. Although I have used a 5m cable with my SHD without issues.
