My configuration is:

SHD
2 active 3 way Dynaudio speakers for stereo, connected via SPDIF

I was thinking of integrating a sub but have not yet decided about it. If the integration of a sub in the described way is not possible I don't have to buy a sub in the first place.
So my question is, if I can integrate the speakers and the sub with Dirac Live. I'm asking because I don't yet understand fully how the setup and matrix mixer works. Can I still define crossovers etc. when the speakers are connected via SPDIF and the sub is connected through an analog out?

See here: www.minidsp.com/applications/audio-strea...integration-with-shd

Under "getting connected" 1+2 would be my SPDIF out and 3 would be the analog out for the sub. Would it work that way?

Or would I do it like this, but setting the cut off frequency to 80 instead of 3000, since I have 3 way speakers?

Thanks in advance!

@Mantobo

The SHD is actually up to a 2way configuration (see manual, 2x4 DSP matrix) so I'm guessing that you're planning to have another processor at the back to perform the 3way (need 6channel). Possibly that you have confusion here.. The SHD won't be able to handle 3way stereo. please make sure to read the user manual for details.

Otherwise the SHD app note your linked indeed applies.
SPDIF 1 will carry L&R (OUT 1&2 of the DSP structure in plugin)
OUT3 will carry your sub. Can be analog or digital.

Making sense?

Hey, thank you for your answer! So if I follow the instructions of the SHD app note, I can run 2.1 with active speakers?

Mmh, no that's not what we meant at all.. :-)
Maybe draw a diagram of what you're trying to do? Then we can comment on it..

As shown in the user manual, in the app note, in the datasheet, the SHD is a 2 x IN, 4 x OUT DSP. It can only process up to 4 x outputs.
If you have 2.1 with 3way active setup, that's 7 x processed outputs if you're trying to use the SHD for doing crossover. Agree?

A diagram of your setup would really help me thing.. :-)

Ok, I'll try my best to make myself understandable. I added a picture of what I want to do. imgur.com/bHPNCAg

I plan to connect the master speaker of the active Dynaudios with SPDIF to the SHD out.
I plan to connect the Sub to the analog out of the SHD

What is confusing me is, that I don't know if I HAVE to do the active setup (page 67) because I have active speakers or if I can just use the method from page 64 like I would with passive speakers.

I understand that I can't do the active setup with 3 way speakers as I would need 7 processed outputs.
Can I instead run the setup described in the manual on page 64, chapter 9.6.2?

Thanks for all your help!
