Hi rodrigaj.

It seems my MacBook Pro is now just too old (mid 2010) to run anything past 10.13.6 High Sierra.

However, I emailed Dirac explaining the issue and they suggested I try to use the 2.2 download.

And it seems to work! Awesome.

I haven’t been able to try it yet as it’s too late to annoy the neighbours, but it has downloaded and is up and running; and I’m able to start DL from the DDRC24 page so it all seems good to go.

I’ll let you know tomorrow how I get on.

I’ve been able to set up 2.2 on OSX 10.13.6 without issue and it’s running now. Top news for me.

Thanks very much to Dirac for the quick reply. Top class.

I’m still busy fine tuning the curves to suit... but I’m pleased indeed.

Cheers to all at MiniDSP for putting up with all the questions and tantrums over the last year. I appreciate your magic.

All the best, Paul.

All working here as well on my 22D, installed from my macbook air. I am looking forward to some serious listening this weekend. I'd like to thank minidsp for this free upgrade, I had been expecting to pay an upgrade fee to be honest

I’ve had an hour or so of listening now.
I’m not at all finished with adjusting the curve... (still plenty of experimenting to do), but I’m pleased with it.

It seems to be at least a bit more detailed and I’d certainly say the mid/low bass on my Adams is now even tighter than it was with the previous version of Dirac.

And I agree, extra stuff and effort from minidsp is remarkable. And without charge is beyond the call.

Thanks to everyone again.

Paul.

I'm up & running with Dirac 2.0 with just one more glitch to get over, I thought I would share my experience:

DDRC-22D
2015 Macbook Air - I upgraded to Mojave OS just to use Dirac 2.0

I had a lot of trouble trying to load the 2.25 firmware and finally found it was due to the length of the USB cable I was using with the old version. I've been using a 1.2M cable with a long extension that takes it over 5M. Once I took off the extension it loaded straight away.

The other problem I had was not being able to get a sweep tone when trying to get a measurement, I would just get dashes or dots going across the Dirac UI followed by an error message - "Measure request timed out. Check your device & network & try again".

The Dev Team suggested I get a log file of the problem and gave me the following instructions:

1. Close all minidsp plugin and Dirac Live software. Plug DDRC-22 and umik to your Macbook and power up.
2. Go to Applications\miniDSP folder
3. Right-click on the DDRC-22 App , select “Show Package Contents”
4. Go to “Contents\Resources\add”
5. Double-click on minidsp_dirac app to run this in the terminal window
6. Go to Applications\Dirac\Live\ to launch the DiracLive app
7. Reproduce the problem you encountered, some message should be printed in the terminal window, copy all these message and paste to a text file, send this file to us.

When I followed these steps I couldn't replicate the problem, the measurement sweep tone worked fine  Going back and forth between this and launching Dirac the proper way from the DDRC plugin was always the same - no sweep tone when launching via the "Start Dirac Live Software" button but it works fine with the above procedure? I have tried all sorts of things to see if I can fix it including different length USB cables, restarting laptop and DDRC-22D, reloading plugin, reloading firmware, refreshing DSP, reloading Dirac 2.0 etc. but no change. So there is still an issue but at least there is a workaround of sorts.

Interestingly my extended USB cable works fine for loading filters etc. but not for loading firmware.

Anyway, the Dev Team has been very responsive, so kudos to them. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of the last issue in due course.

Cheers

For those who aren't able to run the Dirac 2.0 software (cannot find the device, although you launched it from the button in the plugin), make sure the local port 5000 and port 8080 are free, not used.
This has solved it for me. I made a new topic about it, to help you out (hopefully): www.minidsp.com/forum/dirac-series-suppo...r-device-my-solution

I didn't have those issues. I have a dedicated HTPC for playing music, but lots of programs out there use 8080, like Sabnzbd and monitoring tools like PRTG (ran into that one once), Plugwise, various webserver tools. Good point to look after that when having strange issues.

Only problem I ran into with Dirac 2 was not reading the manual upfront and not finding the executable of Dirac because of that

PS. yesterday I "modified" the output of my DDRC24 to provide signal to the balanced inputs of my amplifier, works like a charm and (subjective warning!) when listening close to the noise level it seems to have an even lower background noise. No real modification needed, just create your own hot/cold RCA connectors and set up the 2nd and 4th output to provide an inverted signal.

Too bad the DDRC24 has no digital output (i2s or spdif). Modifications are possible but I don't want to lose on warranty and the mod is really tricky stuff not for the faint of heart

finally i got to manage it to create one filter ...
Dirac 2 keep loosing constantly the connection to SHD and only restarting SHD and starting again Dirac helps. So ... save often ;)

I posted this in another thread, but I post it here as well in case not everybody is suscribed to every thread, I'm getting pretty desperate :S

Well... I haven't been able to use 2.0 on a DDRC-24... I'm using Mojave in a 2012 Macbook Pro and I've installed, deinstalled and reinstalled everything, upgraded the firmware, refreshed... and everytime I press the start dirac live button in the ddrc app it opens the firmware upgrade tool. Any suggestions?

Could it be you selected the firmware tool when opening dirac from the minidsp tool?

I remember that I had not yet installed the dirac 2 software but did update the DDRC24 tool, it asked me to point to the executable file of the dirac software, which I cancelled. Could it be you did point at the firmware tool?

PS. I have the PC version, but I think in essence the programs are quite similar.

I did look into the software and configuration files but could not find a file where the path is registered. Also not in de Windows Registry. (I know Mac is different).
Maybe you could deinstall the DDRC24 tool and all related software like Dirac, after that remove all folders that are left by the software, then reboot and after that reinstall the package.

Dear All,

We're seeing some level of commonality between few tech supports already opened with our team. Here is a summary thread that I think will help some of you who may have issues.
www.minidsp.com/forum/dirac-series-suppo...-upgrade-tips-tricks

We'll keep updating with suggestions over time as we learn from all the peculiarity of installs out there. Feel free to share ideas and kudos to all the community for this sharing of ideas exercise. We very much appreciate!

Just a kind reminder that if you do have some issues unsolved after following these steps, please start a tech support ticket (support.minidsp.com) as it's the official line of support from our team.

As for all of you who are enjoying Dirac 2.0 and been sending us some kind comments, thanks a ton. Have fun!

I can’t really get used to the 2.0.

I thought it was an improvement initially, however slight, but the top end is just too shouty and recessed, (an odd claim, I know, but strings for instance just do not seem real at all.)

Perhaps I’m doing something wrong? But I’m not a novice, and I’ve tried...

So I’m going back to the original Dirac 1.

(I was running 2.2 on iOS 10.13.6 as advised by Dirac).

A pity indeed, but version 1 is hardly slumming it so I’m still happy. :)

Maybe you need some finetuning? Could you perhaps post some screenshots of the measurements and target curve of your good version 1 measurement and also the dirac 2 measurement and target curve? Maybe this can give the experts here some clues.

If you stick with version 1 you will miss out on the future updates.

I'm getting on pretty well with Dirac 2 personally. I've been messing around with target curves, and particularly those at mehlau.net/audio/dirac-live-2/ -- this curve doesn't do the gradual dropoff the higher the frequencies are, and I'm finding that I'm enjoying both the accentuated bass and the more sparkly top end with my setup. It might be that you would enjoy a bit more experimentation with target curves.
