Seeing as it’s a significant upgrade, I’d be happy to pay for the upgrade.
Currently we pay $10 or so for the various DSP plugins, so something similar (eg, $10-$25) to contribute towards the development costs seems v reasonable to me.

I agree to pay a reasonable price for an upgraded plug in.

+1 here too

I’ll be happy to spend a few bucks to get it on the ddrc ....

So, from what dev team is saying “off line” filters (like the ones we use now) are not a part of the new platform......and “Live” meaning what?

I thought “live” meant connecting to there database to make the filters not being connected to the database all the time to use the filters.

Some clarification would be fantastic.

Please keep us posted with any news

I am under the impression that Dirac Live is the name of that version/model of Dirac that we use,
But i might be wrong!

Thanks for all the feedback everybody.. :-)

To clarify, Dirac Live's new release does use a new way of communicating to devices which requires some software&firmware tricks to make it happen. We're investigating it with our good friends @ Dirac but it's only the beginning. As usual, we'll make sure to keep you updated asap we have something concrete (company's policy to not spread rumors.. :-) Thanks again for your patience and support!

Is it too soon to ask/hope that this new DL 2.0 can better integrate sub and mains in a nanoAVR-DL ->receiver->bass managent configuration? It seems so to me but who am I to tell? An already very good device such as nano-DL can become even better no?

I'd be all over an affordably-priced upgrade, assuming its feasible.

There's a new FAQ page at Dirac! www.dirac.com/dirac-blog/qa-new-dirac-live B)

Q: I see. So how can I get my hands on this beauty?

If you already own a piece of hardware that implements Dirac Live, chances are good that you will get the new software to go with the hardware you already own. Depending on the exact hardware you own, this may happen right away or it will be provided at a later date, if possible.

Q: At this point some of you will go, “What does he mean by if possible?”

Well, our intention is to be able to provide the new software for all existing Dirac Live customers, but it remains to be seen if that is even possible from a technical perspective. These tools are new, built from the ground up, and we decided to change some aspects regarding how the calibration tool communicates with Dirac Live capable hardwares in order to improve stability and reduce the amount of work needed to build a Dirac Live capable product. We expect that it will be possible to support most of the units on the market today, but that remains to be seen. In the case that it is not possible, these units will, of course, keep working with the old tool. I should also point out that just because your unit is not supported from the release date does not mean it never ever will be supported. We may also need the support from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in order to make this happen, in which case the availability date for such an upgrade will be impacted by their development schedules.

If a pure software-based upgrade is impossible, will MiniDSP offer exchanging pre-2.0 units for new ones, perhaps for a fee?
I am considering buying a Dirac Live product, but I cannot pull the trigger without any guidance from the dev team.

It would be great but I doudt that miniDsp will recycle old units!
