Had the opportunity to A-B the DDRC-24 with a Trinnov. Same set up, speaker etc,, tested 30min apart. tested to the same "house curve"

- 2 way system.
- bass box + Full Range speaker
- crossover set at 700Hz

The DDRC-24 sounded "compressed" as compared to Trinnov. What could I have done wrong?

I (frankly) doubt you are serious. But could you explain how you got the house curve with the Trinnov and post your graphs?

It is really up to you to believe. I am not here to say Trinnov is better or vice versa.

I am here seeking help on what I could have done wrong and also maybe some could point out to me.
- plain crossover @ 700Hz
- No PEQ
then Dirac

Trinnov doesn't belongs to me, and neither could I afford one We just did a comparison. I will ask teh owner if he can do a screen capture for me.

Ok, but you are asking what "you could have done wrong" so it would sure be helpful to know something about how the measurements were done in both cases.

The Trinnov doesn't belongs to me, and I don't know how to operate it. So I can't explain how he got it.

It sounds like you have done the comparison before and you have better results than me. If so, can you share your steps?

No, I've never used a Trinnov (I'm not sure why you are hiding the name). I'd be interested to know more specifics about how the calibration is done.

Trinnov= Using their method of using the 5 mic gadget. Placed on one spot, Trinnov does it stuff, some warbling etc and stops
Dirac= As it is single chair listening, use UMIK-1 on a tripod to measure all 9 spots per instructions. on completion, use the standard default curve.

It is 1140pm now, getting late and when i received the plots etc, I will post it tomorrow

@ ycwoon

Interesting finding indeed, but as John is trying to word (I think, we're not John.. ;-) , is that it's a bit hard (and I hope that you'd agree to that) without much data for us to "guess" on a single statement what could be the reason here of hearing something different..There could be 1000 of reasons.. :-)

If you were to provide graphs of Dirac Live measurements, Setup of Trinnov (which might have created some crossovers maybe) together with levels of each setup, REW graphs would help, it would certainly enlighten us and create a very valuable discussions.

A/B testing of 2 complete different platform (most likely even using some different sensitivity of analog in/out) is by no mean easy. Sometimes it takes more times to put the 2 system under the same conditions.. :-) It could all be down to levels even. e.g. Trinnov outputting more than Dirac? Last but not least, how are you able to create the same target curve between the 2 systems? Are you able to share that? it is such an important factor of "any" room correction process.

We'd love to hear more though.. :-)
