It currently doesn't but it's a good idea for a future enhancement. We're already using HID so should be something possible I guess. :-) \
Future feature.

Thanks for the reply. Given the limited volume control options, I would imagine USB HID volume control would be a welcome addition.

While I'm here.... and noting that you don't comment on future products, may I take this opportunity to suggest what would be my ideal solution:

2x4 DL balanced in a DDRC-22 type box with XLR connectors.... would be very nice indeed! Or even 2x4 DL un-balanced in a DDRC-22 type box with RCA connectors.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. But I could do with the standard pcb with terminal blocks too :) Hope it's in the pipeline.

True, the Phoenix connectors one could live with (though still prefer XLR). I just find the DDRC-22 boxes with all connectors at the back a lot more appealing for use in a home system. The 2x4 HD style box means wires coming from both sides and thus more messy, as well as not having volume control.

Hello.
Just received my 2x4 HD a couple of days ago, but am now rather concerned whether or not this will be upgradeable to DL, preferably without returning to HK.
Any news on this?

While the 2x4DL isn't released, it's indeed the plan that we'll provide over time an upgrade path, similar to what we did for the OpenDRC - > DDRC. No timeline, no further info at this point I'm afraid.

Thanks for the quick response,
Since Dirac support may be some way off, is it possible to use OpenDRC xml files, like those generated by Acourate?
Would it make sense to use AcourateDRC or full Acourate to generate xml for the 2x4HD?

Dear folks at MiniDSP, I just joined the forum! Reason being that I've more or less decided to get the 2x4 DL when it gets released, based on glowing reviews of MiniDSP and Dirac from a couple of friends.
(no worries, I won't ask for a release date!)

Just a quick question. Based on the flyers in the pictures in the opening post in the thread, I'm getting a little confused about the differences between the HD and the DL version. I'm a complete noob when it comes to MiniDSP and DSP in general, so bear with me if these questions are stupid.

- in the first picture, it says "sub tuning" on the HD, but not on the DL.
- in the second picture, however, it says "2.1." on the HD, and "multisub" on the DL version.

What does this mean? Will there be sub tuning on the HD, but not on the DL? Or does multisub mean that the DL version will be able to tune TWO subs? Other possibilities? :)

As for my intended use, I have two active speakers at the moment, but I'm considering adding two subs later (I'd like to have two subs to get an even better bass response in my room). So I'd like to be able to room tune every single speaker, which would mean 2 mains + 2 subs. Will this be possible with the DL ?

Last thing: Assuming a price point around 450 USD, more or less, will that include an u-mik as well?

Keep up the good work!

miniDSP haven't released any specifics about the 2x4 DL. However you can see it says "Stereo room correction + crossover", so basically it seems that there will be two channels of Dirac correction and a crossover which could be used to implement a 2-way active or to crossover subs to speakers.

I doubt it will include the UMIK-1, nanoAVR DL at 549 doesn't.

That's the answer I hoped not to get. Thanks anyway!

Um... I guess I don't follow. What answer were you hoping to get?

If you were thinking that there would be four channels of Dirac Live so you could have seperate channels for your subwoofers, that's the wrong way to do it anyway.. B)

Was hoping to be able to room tune each individual subwoofer!

Noob question again: why is that the wrong way to do it? Intuitively, it makes sense to me to be able to room tune every single speaker.

Subwoofers are not separate speakers, they are just handling part of the frequency range.

Think of it this way. Say you had three-way speakers, would you want to have a separate Dirac Live channel for the woofer, the midrange, and the tweeter? No. You want Dirac Live to work on the total result.

Sorry for the late reply. To answer your question: Yes, if there was a separate channel for twoofer, midrange and tweeter, I think it would make sense to equalize each channel individually – in order to create a better total result, of course, and given the total tonal balance etc in the room. That gives even more possibilities for tailoring the output from the drivers to the room. Is there any potential downside to that?

Furthermore, subwoofers are often placed at different places in the room, and not exactly where the main speakers are.

Sure, it might be that one can get satisfying results without equalizing the subs separately. As I said, I'm a noob here. I just can't see any reasons for why one would wish to NOT equalize the subs individually. There might technical reasons as for why it's difficult to achieve, of course.

Hi again, perhaps I could repeat my last sentence again: "You want Dirac Live to work on the total result."

Yes, of course. But the question is whtether the total result could be even better by tuning every single driver individually. My assumption is that this could be beneficial, for a variety of reasons. But I don't make any claims to expertise in this area :)
