When I try to activate the test tones for the channel level test, I get the "Play Error" message: "Play Stimulus Failed." The test tones worked fine for a while, then stopped. Any idea what's going on?

Edit: I did a DSP Refresh and reset to factory defaults in the Utility program... still have the problem.

Craig,

Sounds like you already have a tech support ticket opened. We'll use one path of communication for this to prevent double work for our team. Thanks.

I can appreciate not wanting to do double work, but how are the rest of us supposed to gain an understanding of the meaning of the error message and its resolution if it isn't posted here?

Oh surely, we're happy to share, no real secret.. :-)

That error typically comes from a loss of USB communication with the unit. It could happen few ways I guess:
A) DLCT software and the DDRC-88A utility are somehow opened together and they are "fighting" for access to the unit. Make sure that either one or the other is opened.
B) Somehow the USB connection isn't steady. We've seen this happening as we know some end users would take some very long cables e.g. past the 5m, to basically run their setup.

That's about all we can think off. Hoping Craig figures out what's the issue here. We'd be happy to help.

I got frequently this error in the past, until I used a 5m cable. The standard 1,5 m. seems a fixed and safe measure.
Actually, my attempts to go beyond 1,5m, i.e. chaining the provided cable with another of the same length, resulted in instability and errors like that.

Absolutely use same cable length as the one provided.

@ sigonamusic

Make sure that you
a) You don't have a very long USB cable (i.e. some cables have poor USB specs). USB 2.0 is max 3-5m/
b) You're using the latest Dirac Live build from online. Go and redownload and reinstall just in case.

My fix was easy, when this error pops up, close all apps, and restart the program. In some cases restart the computer. After that, it works fine.
