The release log before the Device Console version was released said that 1.17 was the latest, but the firmware for the 2x4 HD I purchased was 1.18.
That's about all I noticed.
Has anyone successfully updated from 1.18?

I FIND IT CURIOUS THAT THIS TOPIC WAS STARTED A WEEK AGO BY DEVTEAM AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE FROM THEM REGARDING THE PROBLEMS CITED BY US. WHAT CAN WE CONCLUDE FROM THAT?

Yes it would be nice if there was more frequent direct involvement from devteam here but I don't think anything should be concluded from the fact they haven't been regularly replying to this thread This is totally normal.

I had not been here for a long time and got the idea that the software release was new. Usually under those circumstances the developer is anxious to id and fix any bugs. I plan to go back to using the old software under the circustances, but this does not reflect well on the company.

Have you contacted miniDSP support using the Support link at the top of the page? You can't meaningfully complain about a lack of support if you haven't.

First, I have an open support ticket on another issue and the support folks suggested I upgrade to Device Console (why, i don't know and wasn't told). I have a DDRC24 and a standard 2x4HD. So far I have attempted to upgrade the firmware of the DDRC24 only, have not yet tried the 2x4HD (wasn't sure the migration files I downloaded for the DDRC24 also applied to the 2x4HD). I tried the firmware update approximately 12 times, failed every time with the Error message. And yes, I am following the instructions to not power down the 2x4 after the first error and to quit the utility and try again. I'm using a current model MacBook Pro M1Pro running macos 12.6.3.  I also have a 2012 Intel Macbook pro running Mojave and have had the identical results with it. No joy. I've reported the results to the support team who asked me to do the upgrade, that was last Friday, as of this time (late Monday), I've had no response. 
 
Looking further I'm under the impression this firmware should work for the plain 2x4HD as well so will be trying that in the morning.  

What I have noticed. When the Start button is clicked in the utility to begin the programming the progress bar begins and the 2x4 is shutdown (at least the blue power light goes off). The programming utility then generates the failure to program error dialog, but just before the power is restored to the 2x4 (or at least the blue light comes back on).  Now clearly there must be something alive in the 2x4 during this time since it has to be keeping the USB interface going.  Does anyone know what is actually happening when the blue light turns off?  For anyone that has been able to successfully program this firmware, does the entire update occur with the blue light off? Just curious.

I have communicated all this to the support team and am awaiting a response from them. 

I waited for the weekend to pass, but as of yesterday there was no response from devteam here, so I am contacting them individually.

I think they are aware of the situation as several people have reported the same.
As for a reply, it will probably take a few days and I am not in a hurry, so I will wait patiently.

I have now tried the firmware update on my standard 2x4HD and was successful on the first attempt. I'm coming up on 20 failed attempts on the DDRC24. I've communicated this to the support folks and am waiting for a response.  

It appears I may have a defective unit, or perhaps there is some incompatibilty with the Dirac configured unit?  I have no idea at this time.   

I contacted the tech support portal (Support menu - > Contact Us) and they responded via email and successfully completed the firmware upgrade.

In the end, the cause of the upgrade failure is unknown as I did not pursue it, but I guess in some cases, like mine, the tools in the migration package may not be able to do it.
I will not mention the specific method, but I was guided to another method, and that method worked.

Sorry for the trouble.
I will enjoy Device Console.
 

Question for @devteam: does the new DDRC-24 firmware and/or the new Device Console change the USB communication between the computer and the MiniDSP in any way? I.e. will the excellent minidsp-rs and python3-minidsp still work? I'd think not, but I'd rather not upgrade blindly.
