Dear All,

A short notice to let you know of the release of v1.118 for Volumio we're excited to release after some extensive testing. It will become available shortly on the Volumio servers.
Here is the change log: 

Fixed Issues
- Uninstall Roon Bridge Failed / Now uninstalling correctly. Note that Roon Bridge should NOT be used anymore on any units. Roon Ready mode must be used from now on. 
- Unable to resume playback from a paused state with remote-control. (Roon, Spotify-Connect) / Fixed
- Squeezelite binary failed to load. / Fixed but not tested extensively since LMS is outside our knowledge. Let us know.  

Changes
- Users are now able to change volume-step for Volumio GUI/App from the Playback menu. You can now modify steps size as follow: 

1. In the Volumio Settings page, go to the Playback Options
   
   
   
2. Scroll to the Volume Options section
   

   Click to change volume steps size to your liking. 

   

   Click save to confirm. 

New
- Surface Dial support in Beta mode.

It would be a better user experience if you post these messages once the new build is available. Otherwise you have to check if it's there or not / remember to go back to it later. Just a suggestion ☺️

...Or at least put a date on it. "It will beome available shortly" means what? 1 hr, 1 day,...?

Apologies for this mishap!! There was some miscommunication with Team Volumio who is posting the image being a different time zone. "-(
We're just waiting for them to start their day and hoping we can get this to everybody ASAP. Thanks for your patience. 

Last time we pushed the release, we had the comment that we didn't warn the community, this time we warned too early.. Due to the different time zone, it's a bit tricky but I'm sure that we'll figure out a better method very soon.

@devteam Thanks. Just reflashed SD card with version 1.118. Everything seems to be working, even "Squeezelite Player" plugin. It installs the "correct" version (armel, -static), but 3 issues related to the plugin remain:

1. The service is still created with a double/redundant target attribute
2. The service is still created with a unnecessary requires attribute
3. The service is still created without the required user and group attributes

Consequently, the service will never start and will delay boot-time of Volumio with at least 1 min. Clearly this was never checked.

Even worse, the installed version will NEVER work on the relatively old version of Debian Linux. Only a very old version works (see post elsewhere on this forum). I already discussed the version related problems with the author of SqueezeLite some weeks ago: forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?11...iDSP-SHD-(Studio)&p=1042289

As this will never work on the "old" version of Volumio, you may as well remove the plugin.

Update: I also have an SD card with the "official" Volumio 3 image for NanoPi Neo2 (I own a full Volumio 3 license). See this post on the Volumio forum: community.volumio.org/t/volumio-3-on-nanopi-neo2-and-neo3/52319. This image uses the MiniDSP SHD specific kernel. It does not have the SqueezeLite plugin (has not been migrated yet), but manually installing the latest hf version of SqueezeLite works perfectly. Guess I will have to wait until the official release of the MiniDSP image later this quarter :(

Please be aware that ALL plugins are developed and maintained by Volumio Community Members, not the Volumio Team.
Addressing the MiniDSP or Volumio Team will not help much in this case.
Best thing for you to do would be contacting developer "saiyato" (address @saiyato on the community forum).

Installed V1.118 via Volumio web interface and restarted the SHD.
"Uninstall Roon Bridge" is still failing with the following message: "An error occurred while uninstalling the plugin: Error: Command failed: /usr/bin/sudo /bin/systemctl stop roonbridge.service Failed to stop roonbridge.service: Unit roonbridge.service not loaded. "

Confirmed, we're on it!
Meanwhile you can still enable Roon Ready and that will work without issues.
The uninstall issue will be taken care off.

One other issue, I am not sure if it belongs to this thread as I never tried this before.
While the IR remote Pause/Play is now working nicely with Roon and Tidal (started from web UI) playback , it doesn't when playing from JRiver via DLNA.
Any chance of this working too or there are some inherent problems with that?

mmmh that's odd that you can't get the remote working. We've tested with a)Jriver b)windows media player c)DLNA players  d) Spotify and all work fine with play/pause. We've also been able to remove the plugin fine from few installs configurations.. 

Maybe do a restore to default of your unit from Volumio as per p76 of the manual? This way you have a clean slate. You just need to update v1.118 after doing that.

After a full factory reset and an update to V1.118 the Roon Bridge plugin is no longer installed but the remote is still not working when playing from JRiver.
I will open a support ticket.

Same problem here. Bridge can't be uninstalled....

A suggestion to remove old Roon plugin: disable the plugin, reboot, remove the plugin, and reboot. If memory serves me right, this is what worked for me in the past.

Btw some plugins (a.k.a. services) cannot be stopped, because they will always restart (as defined in the service file).
