I have a minidsp + miniamp with the 2way crossover. I was wondering if the miniamp could be configured to drive my 2 tweeters in BTL mode, with the woofers connected to a separate amp connected to the minidsp analog outs.

I would need the miniamp to use channel 1 and 3 from the minidsp and run in BTL mode. From what I understand of the manual I can only use channel 1-2 or 3-4.

Another question I have is how is the power down connection used? Didn't see any mention of it in the manual. Can it be used as a remote turn on/off? Will be using it in a car and would have to cut power directly when the car is shut off otherwise.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

In answer to your questions, you could indeed use miniDSP + miniAMP in the configuration you described (tweeters on the miniAMP, Bass on the miniDSP), but it would however require a specific plug-in for this special configuration. If you look at the plug-in page, you'll notice that the 2.1 PEQ/Advanced has the routing you need (i.e. bass on I2S 1&2, High on I2S 3&4).

As for the power down, you can indeed use is a turn off to put the amp in power down mode. Using a relay to toggle between open (power down) and closed (operating mode), will get you there.

Hope this makes sense,

Did not notice the 2.1 plug-in could be setup like that, assumed the sub output was always mixed.
That should work for what I want to do, thanks.

Dev Team,

In reply to Chris you wrote:

I think however there is a typo. Is it not correct that when the Power Down jumper is bridged (closed) the amp will turn off but when it is "open" the amp is on? I.e If your amp is on and you apply a jumper it will shut down. After that if you remove the jumper the amp will power up again. That is at least how it works on my MiniAmp.

Hello,

You're indeed correct, that's a typo:
- Jumper closed = Amp shut down
- Jumper open (default) = amp operating.

Thanks for notifying us of the typo,
