I am an admitted dynamics freak. With modern music and the associated loudness wars it is increasingly difficult to find popular music with great dynamics. Have you guys considered implementing an expander plug-in? It should be fairly easy to implement and is not available on many mainstream processors.
On a seperate but related note, have you guys considered releasing a toolkit to allow the user community to develop their own plug-ins? This coupled with your web-server could provide you a free development resource. |

Hello,
In answer to your question, we've never consider the expander... So many things we could "consider".. As for your question of toolkit, we've thought for a long time of whether to open our platform, but there are a couple of things that make it impossible: - Use of tools that are not open source (under license) so wouldn't be able to be used by other developers - Tech support requirements. Building new plug-ins already requires a fair amount of work for our engineer knowing the firmware inside out. Opening this task to other engineers would mean a LOT of tech support requests which would flood our team... That's where the Analog devices and TI, with their eval kit and world wide tech support team come in. These multi-billions corporations can afford to hire dedicated knowledgeable engineers to handle the flow of questions.. For a startup selling our product at a VERY affordable price, we can't.. That's the reality of running a company as much as we'd like to make it cooler to programmers out there.. With this said, you might want to stay tuned for an upcoming new release in few months which could be interesting nonetheless! Hope this clarifies, DevTeam. |
