Introducing the UMIK-1
|
You already equalized few peaks and tuned your crossover as per a simulation or recommendation from an online forum. It's a first step and most likely better than your older system but the reality is that you're far from getting real engineered results. You might have "golden ears" but the only right path for developing DSP processed systems starts with an acoustic measurement. Over the years, what used to be few thousand dollars, went down to few hundreds. A positive step in the good direction. Yet, most of you still have to deal with driver/software compatibility issues for a setup that is a far fetch from the plug&play!
@ miniDSP, reading from the frustration of our users, we dedicated some resources to come up with a solution. Few months of development later, we introduce the UMIK-1: An omnidirectional USB measurement microphone for a true plug&play experience. From the freeware Room EQ Wizard (REW) to your favorite measurement platform, the UMIK-1 runs on Windows/Mac/Linux thanks to the USB Audio class 1 device. No more drivers, no more external sound card and uncalibrated microphone. With its internal ADC to USB converter operating at 24bit/48kHz, the UMIK1 provides a great signal to noise ratio. A unique calibration file based on the serial number insures results are accurate.
The UMIK-1 is now in stock and available for an amazing introductory price of only 75USD from our webstore. The product is packed in a plastic box along with 1 x USB cable, 1 x mini mic stand and USB cable. Combined with REW, you'll be up and running for your measurements within minutes!
Check out the product page and Webstore for more info.
More exciting news of the potential of this product to be released in the upcoming weeks!

miniSHARC kit in time for Christmas!
|
|
|
When few months ago we mentioned the idea of an all digital DSP, those of you looking for the ultimate DIY digital DSP pushed us hard with to make it happen! :-) With quite a few products already under development, it took a bit longer than expected. That's what engineering is about. In the end, it's Santa's job to bring the miniSHARC to you!

Based on the Analog Device ADSP21369 SHARC DSP, this floating point 32bit DSP module is the smallest, most powerful board of our product range. Clocking @400MHz for up to 2.4Gflops of processing, this nifty little board has all the power you need for high sample rate, FIR and IIR processing. With I2S in&out on the standard miniDSP headers along with an internal SPDIF transmitter and receiver, the base board is ready for the Die-hard DIYer. For those of you looking for more, we ensured compatibility with the existing VOL-FP, DIGI-FP boards and USB front panel connector. Although the miniSHARC is a complete solution only requiring a 5~24VDC power supply, it still requires some electronic knowledge to interface to your external DAC using I2S. Newbies beware that this product may not be the right fit if you're not electronic friendly.
As usual for the miniDSP product line, you'll need to look for the plug-in specs to understand the processing capability and signal flow diagram. When it comes to the miniSHARC, the first plug-in released will be the miniSHARC 4x10 plug-in operating at 96kHz. Fitted with FIR + IIR for all outputs, along with delay lines and Comp/Limiters, it's a well rounded plug-in for 95% of your FIR Xover based implementation. More information to follow up with the release of the plug-in datasheet.
Give us 1~2weeks for the documentation to be prepared and the product will soon available on our webstore for only 175USD. A 32bit Sharc floating point DSP board has never been so affordable so we look forward to your creativity on your new speaker projects! More information to follow up in the upcoming few weeks so stay tuned on our forum.
